On 21 February 2017, consumer sentiments at the all-India level
rose 0.19 per cent to 94.72. This can be attributed to a 0.3 per
cent rise in the index of consumer expectations to 96.53. Meanwhile,
the index of current economic conditions was stable at 91.89.
Urban consumer sentiments
stood unchanged at 89.87. This can be explained by the stability in the
constituent indices- the index of
current economic conditions and the index of consumer expectations were steady at 89.12 and 90.36, respectively.
In rural India, consumer sentiments fell 0.18 per cent to 97.45, on account of a 0.5 per cent drop in the index of current economic conditions to 92.96. The index of consumer expectations was constant at 100.3.
